Android market alternative (Blackmarket Alpha)

This is a great alternative for the android market , because of its huge collection of apps and games i actually prefer this over the play store. It doesn't look all that great but  you can get paid apps for FREE with it . The app also comes with a backup feature That lets you backup your apps. Also when you download an app its apk gets saved to your memory (this lets you re install the app or share the app )unlike the play store in which the apk is downloaded ,installed and deleted.

Uninstall system apps

Ever wondered why you have an email app or some useless crappy app that just eats up space pre installed into a rom of your device when you can easily get a better alternative for it . That where system app remover comes in handy . It helps you remove all the useless bloatware from your device.\

a rooted android device

And dont just randomly uninstall apps cause you dont know what they do, because if you mess with a system app you'll probably end up using cwm to restore your rom.So use this app wisely

2. download & install VTC Driver v5.xx for your Windows PC

TO boot into FWDN mode you have to hold the home button down and turn the tablet on.doing so will result in a screen that says that you are in fwdn mode

ii) Flash bootloader(lk.rom) you can skip this step if you already flashed proper lk.rom or you don't have proper lk.rom for your tablet
1. start FWDN on PC
2. drag & drop lk.rom into FWDN window
3. (re)boot tablet into FWDN mode
4. connect PC and tablet (window popped and size of "NAND Data" is displayed in Area Map in FWDN window)
5. confirm checkbox of lk.rom is checked
6. click "Start" & wait complete
7. disconnect & reboot tablet into FWDN mode to use new(just flashed) bootloader
8. uncheck checkbox of lk.rom (it's ok if checked but no reason to flash again in next step)

8. click "Start" & wait complete (take several minutes)
9. disconnect & reboot tablet

*6 creating new NAND Data.fai is required when size of NAND Data(FAT partition) is changed by flashing new lk.rom in previous step. you can use same NAND Data.fai if you are using same lk.rom. don't use NAND Data.fai from other people.
*7 if size of NAND Data is not changed, you can skip flashing NAND Data.fai to keep your files in NAND(FAT) partition.
*8 you can make non-empty NAND Data.fai in this window

if the drivers are installed correctly then a menu will pop up in fwdn saying that the device has been detected. If it is not being detected then
1)open device manager

1)Hardware accelerated video - This is only a partial fix but it get the job done most of the what you have to do is get a 3rd party video player app such as mobo video player or mx video player and you should have most videos playing  in software acceleration mode(this option can be found in the settings of both the players).

HCL ME X1 is not the re branded version of coby 7022 !!!!!!!

Since yesterday , i have been trying to fix the bugs of ICS for 7022 on the HCL ME X1. But then the fact that it worked properly on the 7022 but not the x1 got me thinking. So after a little bit of research and prying open my tablet i have come to realize that the HCL me x1 is the re branded version of Emdoor EM73 capacitive GC2M 8K.
The reasons that lead me to believe this is that when I opened the tablet(removed the back panel) I found EM_A100_V2 written on the board next to the telechips processor. A quick google search of this lead me to the androtab  site. This page had a hardware description of the device which looked exactly like the HCL ME X1 but that could have been just coincidence so i did the dumbest thing i could. I flashed the cyanogen mod rom from their site for the 7022 using fwdn(not clockwork recovery ) and to my surprise the touchscreen stopped working with the boot animation becoming very slow no mater which rom i used. Then i tried to do the same thing with the emdoor rom and it worked perfectly(as in touchscreen started to work again)and everything went back to normal.

Faster Facebook app finally!!!

Have you ever wondered when  Facebook would actually come come out with a faster version and usable  version of their android app. I have and personally i think their mobile web page is much better than their app. I agree the mobile web page doesn't look and feel as good as the app but then again it gets the job done and that to pretty fast.
So the guys at Team2Soft came out with Fast for Facebook . The app is insanely fast if you compare it to the official app. The app also has an ICS feel to it. The navigation is also pretty easy. With the app currently being in BETA and all bugs are expected but there aren't many.

accelerometer, audio, gapps, internal NAND flash, SD card, touchscreen with calibration app, USB host/device, wlan

3G, camera, hardware accelerated video, HDMI, and many things which you expect to work

How to install CyanogenMod 7
2)Reboot into CWM Recovery

3)Go to backup and restore
4)Make backup of stock ROM(not necessary unless you have not already done this)
5)Go back to the main page

4)Wipe data/factory reset (only if you are upgrading from non-CM7 ROM (CM7 1st install))

5)Go to install zip from SD card
6)Select internal or external SD card depending on where you copied the zip file
7)touchscreen calibration (only if you are upgrading from non-CM7 ROM (CM7 1st install))

1)Hardware accelerated video - This is only a partial fix but it get the job done most of the what you have to do is get a 3rd party video player app such as mobo video player or mx video player and you should have most videos playing  in software acceleration mode(this option can be found in the settings of both the players).

2)The first time you boot up you will notice that the internal storage is not being recognized. To fix this go to Settings -> CyanogenMod settings -> Application -> Use internal storage -> On -> reboot.

3)Some apps automatically rotate upside down in this rom. To fix this download Root browser lite. Then go to /data/ and create a file named local.prop and enter these values

Some apps that where available on the market while using the stock hcl rom may not be available on gingerom due to the change in dpi. the original x1 dpi is 200 while gingerom has a dpi of 160

Backup current rom using cwm

Before we start screwing around with the tab(HCL ME X1) let's make a backup of the system firmware so that we can restore it if something goes wrong

1)Boot into CWM (if you haven't already installed CWM go to my tutorial on how to install CWM on HCL ME X1)
2)Navigate to backup and restore
3)In backup and restore select backup to sd card or backup to internal sd card depending on where you would like to save it
4)If you selected backup to sd then the backup would be created to a folder whose name is the date and time of backup. This folder lies inside a folder named Backup which lies inside a folder named Clockworkmod on the sd card.It is similarly saved on the internal memory as well

Install CWM on HCL ME x1

CWM- Clockworkmod recovery is an alternate recovery menu for android devices. It lets you install different firmware's as well as backup roms , install zip packages and so here are the instruction's to install it on the hcl me x1 tab

1)Download cwm for HCL ME X1
2)Rename it to
3)copy to the root of your micro sd card (ie; /sdcard/
4)Turn the tablet off
5)Turn the tablet on while pressing the back button(the shiny silver circular button). As soon as the stock recovery comes up let go of the buttons
6)Now use the options button to go down, home button is to select an option, back button is to go back
7)Navigate to either install zip from sd card or update(This depends on which version of stock recovery you have)
8)Select from the root of the sd card
9)select yes

viola you have just installed the cwm recovery. reboot into recovery and it should boot up in cwm recovery and it should look something like this
